A confidential space to explore the thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life

A bit about me

I am a psychodynamic therapist offering counselling at my practice in Stroud.

My background prior to becoming a therapist was in nursing and whilst satisfying on many levels the element that was missing was the time to address some of the fundamental issues of a patient’s psychological and emotional pain and distress during their illness and recovery.

This led me to my exploration in talking therapy and completion of 8 years training qualifying as a psychodynamic counsellor.

Approaching counselling or therapy for the first time can feel like a daunting and confusing prospect.

People from all walks of life come to see me, you may be in crisis or may simply wish to explore an aspect of your life experience more deeply. Either way it is a courageous decision to make.

My practice

I offer a sensitive, confidential and non judgemental space where what you bring to each session can be mulled over, in time leading to a more comprehensive understanding of the issues on your mind.

At the heart of my practice is our working relationship – this develops over time and enables greater trust, space and creativity to explore difficulties and challenges that may be present.

Sometimes we can discover unprocessed historical events or patterns causing distress in the here and now. This is usually not conscious but needs time to explore and fathom out.

Working with me

Inevitably engaging in this work has its ups and downs but its purpose is to open up new perspectives leading to changes and greater satisfaction in life.

This process unfolds over time and tends to be longer term though I do also offer short term therapy.

initial consultations are a valuable opportunity to get a sense of each other and what brings you to seek help at this time.
